Ann Curry
Ann Curry was born in the United States and is an American photographer and journalist. For more than forty-five years she has focused on documenting human suffering, primarily when natural catastrophes or war are occurring. Curry has been a reporter in war zones such as Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo. Ann Curry was an American journalist, TV news reporter and host who is best known for her work as a reporter on the Today program, a daily morning news show that aired on NBC. Curry's reporting was notable for its coverage of humanitarian crisis that occurred in war-torn countries as well as natural catastrophes. Curry's father was a naval officer in the U.S. Navy and her mother was Japanese. They met during the time their father was in Japan in the aftermath of World War II. Due to the military service of her father, her family has moved quite a lot. The family eventually moved to Ashland Oregon where Curry attended high school. In the end, University of Oregon awarded her the degree of bachelor of arts in journalism. She was exposed to a variety of cultures and the experiences she had during her growing up may have influenced her empathy method of communication regarding issues of international significance. Curry did not have the opportunity to be a student at a particular school in the cities of San Diego, Alameda Oregon or Virginia over the course of two years, due to her family moved often. Ashland is where she finished the high school. While working as an intern for KTVL Channel 10 Medford, Oregan, she began her journey in broadcasting. She was the first female anchor for the station at was just 22. In Portland in Oregon, she was named anchor and reporter by KGW which is NBC's subsidiary. After four years, she was hired as a reporter by KCBS TV located in Los Angeles. In the course of her work with the channel for a period of 6 years that she was awarded two Emmy Awards.
